Overview
Shoot on Film. Edit on Video. Finish on Film. The Slingshot family of products enable you to do this accurately, completely, and without compromise.
Slingshot gives you all the professional FILM MATCHBACK options you would expect from more expensive digital editing systems such as Avid's Film Composer or Lightworks. The Slingshot applications will accurately MATCH each frame of your digital edit BACK to your original film frames.
FILM MATCHBACK is necessary for accurate sound sync, negative cutting and making film prints of your movie, whether you edit at 24, 25 or 30 fps. By adding Slingshot software to your current video editing system, you can have all the professional film options you need, at a price you can afford.
Slingshot works with all popular video editing systems. Whether you edit your movie on a computer or on a videotape system, Slingshot will give you the professional film options you need. It's fast, precise and easy-to-use. And it won't break your budget.
The Slingshot line of applications includes:
Slingshot PRO
Slingshot PLUS
Slingshot PIX
Film Cut
Film Log Manager (FLM)

Slingshot PRO does several things that will make your post production life easier, faster and more efficient:
- Translates your telecine logs (commonly known as FLEx files, Evertz files, or ALE files) into batch capture logs for your digital editing system.
- Converts your NTSC or PAL video EDLs into 24-frame film lists for negative cutting and film conforming.
- Converts your video EDLs into 30fps sound EDLs for the highest quality audio conforming of your sound track.
The PRO version ships with three applications: the TELECINE LOG CONVERTER, the FILM TRAKKER and the SOUND TRACER.
The TELECINE LOG CONVERTER does just that. It will convert your telecine logs into Batch Capture files for importing into your Non-Linear Editing System (NLE). That way, you can batch capture your telecined film without having to hand log each telecine tape, saving you many hours of needless work. Slingshot supports all popular digital editing systems. (See Compatibility on the Support page for more detailed information)
The FILM TRAKKER takes the film information from your telecine files and combines it with your video EDLs to generate 24-frame film lists:
- Cut List Consider this your recipe for putting together your film. It is the list that your negative cutter or conformist will use to assemble your movie from the original film negative or a film print, one shot at a time.
- Pull List This would be your list of ingredients. It creates a list of pieces of film that your negative cutter or optical lab will need to "pull" for them to assemble your movie or create your opticals. The Pull Lists are organized and designed for the fastest and most efficient way for your negative cutter or optical lab to work and to help protect your negative.
- Optical List This list shows the lab how to re-create on film the dissolves, motion effects, reverse motion, fades, etc. that are in your movie. This way, the effects that you created in your editing system can be re-created on film for your final print.
- Dupe List In video, you can use the same shot as many times as you want. In film, you must have a physical piece of film for each shot in your movie. To make sure you have the correct negative for this, Film Trakker will analyze across your entire movie for film frame overlaps, duplicate shots, etc. so that you will know what pieces of film need to be duplicated (dupes). These are shown on your Dupe List.
The SOUND TRACER does for sound what the Film Trakker does for film. It takes the telecine information from your telecine files and combines it with your video EDLs to create sound EDLs for use in Pro Tools or other audio conforming software. It replaces your telecine tape names and telecine timecode with the Sound Roll names and Sound Timecode from your original DAT or Nagra tapes. This way, you can conform your sound tracks using the highest quality audio recordings from the original source.

FILM CUT is a powerful application that is deceptively simple and easy to use. Designed as the introductory product in the Slingshot line, FILM CUT is ideally suited for short films and student projects.
FILM CUT provides you with the 24-frame translation that Slingshot has become famous for, in both NTSC and PAL. It supports 16mm films and 35mm films, and will create a Cut List. FILM CUT does not support Sound Matchback.
FILM CUT comes with a lite version of the Telecine Log Converter, called TLC EZ, which will convert your telecine logs into Batch Capture files for importing into your Non-Linear Editing System (NLE).
