You can count on Kenneth Lonergan to take top honors at AFI Fest 2000 with his remarkable film, You Can Count On Me.

You Can Count On Me takes New Directions - American Independent Series honors at the AFI Fest 2000 awards ceremony.
    October 27, 2000 (Los Angeles, CA) --- Trakker Technologies would like to congratulate Kenneth Lonergan and everyone at Paramount Classics who participated in making You Can Count On Me such an exceptional film. You Can Count On Me received top honors, winning the New Directions - American Independent Series Award as well as the award for Best New Writer at AFI Fest 2000. The awards ceremony took place on October 26th at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles.

    Trakker Technologies donated to the AFI a Slingshot editing utility suite consisting of Slingshot PRO and Film Log Manager. This software package was part of the award for the New Directions-American Independent Series, which was presented to Lonergan for his remarkable film, You Can Count On Me.

    The entire package is valued at approximately $5,000 and is a vital tool in the post-production process, allowing editors to edit using low-cost video NLEs yet finish back to film.

    You Can Count On Me follows the lives of two siblings orphaned at birth who are reunited years later when the brother returns to his hometown to borrow money from his more responsible sister. They find that their lives are irreconcilable and must question their own values in order to realize their full potentials.

    With a powerhouse cast including, Laura Linney, Mark Ruffalo, Matthew Broderick, Rory Culkin, Jon Tenney, and Martin Scorsese as executive producer, it is no surprise this film was also selected as co-winner of this year's Sundance Grand Jury Prize.

    You Can Count On Me was written by Ken Lonergan, produced by John Hart, Jeff Sharp, Larry Meistrich, and Barbara DeFina. Anne McCabe was the editor of the film.
