Trakker Technologies Continues Outreach to Independent Film Community and Partners with Digital Origin to Present "Best Editing" Award at 2000 Slamdance Film Festival |
The Slamdance Film Festival was originated to provide a forum for the truly independent filmmaker. The mission of Slamdance to provide support and exposure for the independent community is one of the many reasons that Trakker Technologies is compelled to continue to be part of the festival. Trakker Technologies began its support for independent filmmakers with the creation of its flagship product, Slingshot, in 1995. Since then, Trakker has sponsored numerous independent film festivals including The American Film Institute/LA Film Festival, South by Southwest, and Slamdance. Trakker has previously sponsored the "Best Editing" award for Slamdance and will be presenting yet another award for the 2000 festival. Barry Silver, President of Trakker Technologies will be attending the festival as presenter of the award. "As a film editor myself, I understand the hard work that goes into making a film," explains Silver, "I am honored to be part of a film festival that not only supports the independent filmmaker but also recognizes the great effort that goes into all aspects of filmmaking." The award that is being donated by Trakker Technologies and Digital Origin is valued at $8,000 and is compatible with any Windows/NT workstation. "We are happy to be partners with Digital Origin this year," states Silver. "Now we can support filmmakers that want to take full advantage of the economic realities of Digital Video Editing for film." Barry Silver and Robert Mathieu, Director of Engineering, initially created Slingshot to aid in the film editing of Disney's "Honey We Shrunk Ourselves." Since then it has been used on thousands of films, by independent filmmakers and large studios all over the world. "The film editor plays such a critical role in piecing the story together," explains Mathieu, "and we are glad that we can provide them the tools they need to successfully edit their film." These tools are what make products like Slingshot the most powerful and preferred film matchback software available today. Slamdance is being held from January 23rd through January 30th in Park City, UT. During this time thousands of participants will join together to share their movies and support for each other. Trakker will be there to show its support for this community by presenting an award to the best editor of the festival and provide information about the Slingshot product line and the effect it has had on digital post-production. The Slingshot product line consists of Slingshot PRO, Slingshot PLUS, Slingshot PIX, and the newly released FILM CUT all of which have been designed to aid in the digital post-production process.
